Learn more about our Licensed Group Home Program

Mercer Residential Services owns and operates an eight-bed group home in Celina, the Wayne Street Home. This home is an Intermediate Care Facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IID). We manage the Thomas Edison Group Home, also an eight-bed home, located in Van Wert. These homes provide 24-hour staffing, 7 days a week.  We offer individualized training based on the needs and desires of each person in the area, including, but not limited to daily living skills, academic functions, human sexuality and life safety skills. We provide Person-Centered support and believe in the power of self-determination, along with self-advocacy.

We strive to make inclusion a reality for the individuals we serve. Our purpose is to maximize each individual’s potential by providing intensive real-life learning opportunities. This is accomplished by having the same expectations for our consumers as we have for ourselves. Consumers participate in normal everyday activities, such as performing hygiene tasks, going to work, preparing meals, grocery shopping, visiting friends, performing household chores, maintaining finances or enjoying leisure time activities, individually or in small groups.

MRSI offers qualified, screened and well-trained staff to provide skilled direct support services with 24 hour / 7 day a week care.  MRSI is able to serve both male and female clients aged 18 and over.  No matter what the age or the need, it is our commitment to provide the highest quality of services that will ensure a person’s health, safety and well-being, with the greatest degree of independence and freedom of choice.  Our homes have received many perfect surveys and reviews from the Ohio Department of Health and Human Services as well as with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities numerous times over the years.

Staff is trained to work with clients who have specific behavioral and mental health issues, such as autism, schizophrenia, anxiety and ADHD. Staff provides care to consumers based on their individual needs, from minimal staff assistance to total care. Staff can also accompany consumers to their medical appointments and help them understand the outcome and treatments of the appointments. All staff members are certified in CPR & First Aid and receive extensive training on Positive Culture Initiative, Trauma and Crisis Intervention and Delegated Nursing. Staff receive continuous training throughout the year to ensure they have the most updated information.
